1st Graders

Mission Statement: Memorial Lutheran School provides excellence in comprehensive, classical education under the Gospel, preparing students for service in the Church and the world.

Vision: Each student will leave Memorial Lutheran School a better person, equipped academically for service in the world, with faith in Christ that is evident in his or her life.

Memorial Lutheran Church established Memorial Lutheran School in 1980. We have programs for infants through the eighth grade. Our school offers a challenging Christian and Classical curriculum that includes the following:

Daily religious instruction; Weekly chapel
Saxon Math Program K-8 (Honors math in 7th-8th grades)
Saxon Phonics Program in Early Childhood & Elementary
Language Arts: Shurley Grammar, Spelling Connections, New Moves Writing
Geography: The Story of the World (The Ancients, Middle Ages, Early Modern Times, Modern Times). Upper grades focus on Texas History and U.S. History
Drama – Spring Play Middle School
Logic classes
Computer Lab: Pre-K – 8 Computer Technology Curriculum
Science: Harcourt Publishing Hands-on Science Curriculum; Science Lab (middle school), Science Fair grades 2-8
Art, Music, Band, Orchestra (begins at 1st grade) and Choir
Spanish – Begins in Preschool 3’s
Latin – 3rd – 8th required
Physical Education Early Childhood – 8th (gymnasium and large fenced playground)
Inter-school Athletics 1st – 8th grades soccer, volleyball, and basketball
7th and 8th grade trips
National Junior Honor Society 7th and 8th grades
After-school activities to include Kid Fit, Dance, and Karate (all at extra costs)
Field Trips throughout the school year
Summer Program with activities to include swimming, arts and crafts, Vacation Bible School, computer, cooking, sports clinics and field trips. Summer information is available in April each year. You must register separately for this program that runs from beginning of June to mid August.
Hot lunch with beverage available during the school year at an additional cost
Before and After School Childcare Facility is open
from 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Normal School Hours 8:15 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. for all classes

Childcare and After School Programs

Child Care and After School Programs

Childcare is available for students enrolled in our school. Childcare service is offered from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM. It is offered year around, except for certain holidays which are stated in the school calendar. Parents will find a strong, loving,Christian atmosphere here, and will find cooperation between classroom teachers and childcare personnel which enhances the child’s learning experience. Activities include outdoor games, sports, art and crafts and supervised homework time.

Extra Curricular Activities:
Dance, Kid Fit, Karate, Club Invention, and German Club are offered.
These professionally instructed classes are offered with an additional charge.
