Adult Instruction

What Is Adult Instruction?

  • Adult instruction prepares adults for membership in the Lutheran Church.

Why Should I Come?

  • To grow in your personal faith
  • To meet other Christians seeking greater understanding
  • To become more familiar with the basic teachings of the Bible
  • To rest secure in the salvation that Jesus Christ has won for you and all people by his suffering, death and resurrection
  • To find that life is meaningful and has a purpose
  • To have sense of community and deeper relationships
  • To feel that one is growing in the faith
  • To learn what your child is being taught at Memorial
    Lutheran School
  • To have practical help in developing a mature faith

What About Child Care?

  • All children will receive free child care in the church nursery when the class is held after worship in the spring. During the fall sessions children older than 3 are encouraged to attend Sunday school.

Who Teaches the Class?

  • Rev. Dr. Scott R. Murray, Memorial’s Senior Pastor
  • Pastor Murray has two decades experience teaching the faith to adults
  • He holds three advanced theological degrees including a Ph.D.

Is There a Cost?

  • There is no charge for the course

What If I Miss a Class?

  • Although it is preferable to be present at every class, recordings of past sessions are made available online to keep those who cannot be present up-to-date. Ask Pastor Murray which video you should view for the class you missed.

After Class is Over, Then What?

  • You are prepared to become a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, if you share the faith you were taught in adult instruction
  • No one is ever coerced into joining Memorial Lutheran Church
