HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST
The Houston Chapter of Lutherans For Life wants to increase high school students’ knowledge and understanding of the importance of “Life” issues .
First-place: One $350 scholarship
Second-place: One $150 scholarship
Topics must be one of the following:Abortion, Infanticide, Euthanasia, EmbryonicStem Cell Research, or Post-abortion Problems
Who is eligible? All 11th and 12th grade students enrolled in an accredited Lutheran High School or members of a Lutheran church. Submit entries by email with subject line “Life Essay Contest, Houston Lutherans for Life.” Submissions can be emailed to Pastor St-Onge (cstonge @ mlchouston.org) by Thursday, May 5. MIDDLE SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST
For students in Grades 7 and 8. Sponsored by Houston Lutherans For Life.
First Prize: One $150 scholarship
Second Prize: One $50 scholarship
Each student should write an original essay in the form of a letter to President Obama. Essays should focus on the gift of life. Since God is the creator of all life, then all lifeis special, unique and precious. Each student should ask President Obama to promote life in his policies and not to promote abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research or assisted suicide. A student may choose one topic or write about all life issues. Please include at least two Bible passages that inspired your work. Submit entries by email with subject line “Life Essay Contest, Houston Lutherans for Life.” Submissions can be emailed to Pastor St-Onge (cstonge @ mlchouston.org) by Thursday, May 5.
