Rio Grande Valley Flood Assistance
One of our own, Hilda Kunz is from the Rio Grande Valley.

In the past week there has been severe flooding throughout the Rio Grande Valley, including her home town of Pharr.

Hilda is collecting cleaning supplies for the next week and will be delivering these items direct to the community.

Items needed are:
rubber gloves
clorox wipes
baby wipes
disposable respirator masks
heavy duty trash bags
Mosquito repellent
big buckets
clorox bleach

Hilda will be in the Commons on Sunday to start collecting items. Items may also be dropped off at the church/school  throughout the week, just label them RGV flood donation.
From the Pastor
"Comfort, comfort my people
says Your God." The words of the prophet Isaiah proclaim to us the role of John the Baptist, whose Nativity we celebrate Sunday, and thus also the role of every pastor that preaches to the Church. Daily life, far too often, prevents us from listening to this proclamation. We struggle inwardly and outwardly with sin and its consequences. Yet, God provides comfort in the midst of sin and death. He provides you "knowledge of salvation for the forgiveness of your sins" (Luke 1), and this knowledge is none other than the live-giving Gospel. The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world has come. When the comforting words of the Gospel are preached, there is forgiveness and salvation for both body and soul. God grant us to treasure this Gospel and the comfort that it brings us.
