It's a Big Day
Five hundred years ago, Dr. Martin Luther nailed the 95 Theses to the Castle church door in Wittenberg. He thought he was advertising for an academic debate about the value of indulgences. How wrong he was! He touched off a debate that eventually touched on the very center of the Christian religion: how are we saved; by faith or by works? Luther's answer was, like St. Paul's, quite clear, because Luther taught what Paul taught. This Sunday we will be rejoicing in the gift of the clarity of the Word of God that teaches, "that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law" (Romans 3:28). Luther's clear teaching in this regard is why I am a Lutheran and that's the theme for this Reformation Sunday. It's a big day!

Rummage Sale- Call for Items!
Memorial Lutheran Church & School's Lutheran Women In Mission's (LWIM) Annual Rummage Sale is just around the corner on Saturday, 4 November from 8:00 AM- 12:00 PM in the parking lot on the Westheimer Road side of the building.
We are accepting donations of gently used items from now until the evening of Friday 3 November.  Items can be left in the church office. Here are a few points to consider when selecting items:
  • Accessories (scarves, etc) should be free from stains, tears, and fading
  • Electronics need to be in good working order
  • Writing and office materials should be unused
  • Toys need to be in good working order and not missing any pieces
  • Furniture and household items must be functioning properly
This sale is LWIM's biggest fundraiser of the year, and the monies raised go directly to missions. Come and shop, support MLC LWIM!
LWIM appreciates your support and prayers!
If you have suggestions about things that you'd like to see in the Memorial Messenger, please let the office staff know. We would love to hear from you.
