blood drive
Thank you for Giving Life!
A big thank you goes out to those of you who gave your time and/or blood this past Sunday.  Thanks to your generosity, MLC helped our regional blood bank stock up.

Here is the break down for our blood drive:
  •     2 attempted donors who were deferred
  •     16 successful donors
  •    20 products collected from those 16 donors:
  •     12 whole blood
  •     4 automation (2 units taken from those 4 donations which equals 8 units)
  •    Total of 20 products
Each blood product can help save three lives, so that is 60 lives impacted!

Your donation made a difference in our community! Our hospitals have increased their usage requirements and the blood center falls short of the needs for Houston area patients.
If you weren't able to give this time or would like to give platelets or another blood product that wasn't available this Sunday, PLEASE consider visiting your local Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center location. You can give towards our MLC drive through 28 February 2017 by giving them our drive number: 1999. AND Stay tuned for our blood drive in early May!
From the Pastor
Jesus says: "You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
With these words, our Lord reveals the true, divinely established requirement for the Law: perfection. This requirement is more than giving a best effort or a better than average attempt. Less than perfect efforts are not good enough.
When we hear these words and we are honest, we will recognize that we are not perfect. We do not love God and our neighbor as we should. We come short, we fail, we sin.
Because this is true, because we fail, because the consequence of sin is death, God, through his Son, Jesus Christ, has taken on the requirements of the Law on our behalf.
Jesus was perfect in thought, word, and deed for himself and for us. Because of Jesus, we are now reckoned as perfect by the Father for the sake of the Son. We no longer have death, but life...life in His Son.
