Pastor Pacey Projecting a 15 December Announcement

jesus-profile.jpg
Pastor Ian Pacey, whom we called at a voters assembly on 24 November, is projecting that he will have a decision to announce on 15 December.

Please pray the Lord of the harvest that He would give wisdom and His Spirit to Pastor Pacey as he wrestles over and prays about the call to be Associate Pastor of Memorial Lutheran Church. Send us a man after Your own heart, O Lord!

Advent End-stop

Advent reminds us that there is an end to all things. Christ promised to return to bring the world to a conclusion, completely defeating evil and bringing us sinners into the home which ascended to prepare for us. When we are caught up with Him in the air, things will no longer be "in the air." What I mean is that the indeterminacy and uncertainty of life that cause us to feel incomplete and uneasy will have have been brought to an end by Christ. That's one reason to look forward to Christ's return in judgment. Come, Lord Jesus!

Who's New?

Meet the Skinner family. They transferred to MLC this year after visiting for several months, prompted by a move across town.  Stephen is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma and came to Texas twelve years ago for work.  He works in the pharmaceutical industry. Nina grew up in Houston and spent many childhood summers in Mexico. She is a corporate transactional attorney.  Their house is very active with three little ones (Matthew - 5, Rebecca - 4 and Madeleine - 1) who keep them on the move.  You can often find the Skinners in Port O'Connor on the beach and fishing with the kids or just relaxing at home and grilling.

Welcome to the Skinner family!
Sing and Give Joy with MLC Carolers!

Please join us after second service this Sunday 8 December as we go caroling to our shut-ins. All are welcome!

Please meet in the narthex directly after second service. We will go for a quick lunch at Jason's Deli and then meet back at the church to begin the route. Music and Maps will be provided. The MLS bus will transport most carolers.

RSVP to the Church Office before 5:00 PM today so we can plan for music and transportation at 713 782 6079 or email.

Altar Linen

Replacement
We need to replace the fair linen that covers the altar each week. Presently, we have three and all are beginning to show their age in the form of holes, wear, and stains. Each of the linens cost approximately $500 to replace. When we think of the altar and the importance it plays in our weekly worship services, we want to present the finest linens. If you are willing and able to contribute to the replacement of our fair linen, please let Martha Fredenburg know by email at:mfredenburg@
